Privacy,
in plain
English.

We think legal documents should read like something a neighbour wrote, not a law firm billing by the word. Here’s exactly what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to tell us to stop — no fine print, no dark patterns.

Section 01

The short version.

Ignite Web Studios is a small web design studio in Delta, BC. We work with local businesses — the florist in Ladner, the tradesperson in North Delta, the cafe in Tsawwassen. To do our job, we collect a small amount of information about you when you contact us, book a project, or browse this site.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ad retargeting pixels. We do not share your information with data brokers. If you ask us to delete what we have on you, we will — usually within a few business days.

The rest of this page is the longer version, for the curious and the cautious. If you just want the gist: we treat your data the way we’d want ours treated.

Section 02

What we actually collect.

We collect four categories of information, and only what we genuinely need to serve you. Here they are, in order of how much of it there is:

Category A

You tell us directly

Your name, email, phone number, business name, and the details of the project you’re asking about — via our contact form, email, or a scoping call.

Category B

Project materials

Logos, copy, photos, brand guidelines, access credentials for services we’re handing off — whatever you share so we can build your site.

Category C

Site analytics

Pages visited, rough location by city, device type, referrer, time on page. Aggregated. No cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers attached.

Category D

Invoicing essentials

Billing address, GST number if applicable, and payment confirmation from our processor (Stripe). We never see or store your card number.

Section 03

How we use it.

Every piece of information we hold has a job. If we can’t name the job, we don’t collect it. Specifically, we use your data to:

  • Reply to your enquiry and scope the project you’re asking about.
  • Design, build, and launch your website — the actual work.
  • Send invoices, process payments, and meet our tax obligations in Canada.
  • Send you project updates (never marketing email unless you opted in).
  • Understand which pages on this site are useful so we can improve them.
  • Respond to questions, support requests, or edit requests after launch.

We do not use your information to train AI models, sell leads to other agencies, or feed marketing databases. Ever.

We don’t sell your data. We don’t rent it, trade it, or hand it to brokers. Full stop.

The non-negotiables, Ignite Web Studios
Section 04

Who we share with.

To run a studio, we rely on a small set of trusted service providers. Each one sees only the slice of data it needs to do its specific job. Here’s the full list:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Sees billing details; we never touch your card.
  • Google Workspace — our email and document storage. Holds our correspondence with you.
  • Plausible Analytics — privacy-first site analytics hosted in the EU. No cookies, no personal data.
  • Fastmail & Cloudflare — email delivery and DNS infrastructure for this site.
  • FreshBooks — invoicing and Canadian tax reporting.

We review this list annually. If we add a provider that touches your personal data, we update this page and, if the change is material, we email current clients directly.

Section 05

Cookies & analytics.

This site runs zero third-party advertising cookies. No Facebook Pixel. No Google Ads tag. No TikTok tracker. No session-replay recorders.

We use Plausible, a lightweight, cookie-less analytics tool that reports aggregate traffic numbers only — things like “378 people read the homepage last week” or “most visitors come from Delta and Richmond.” It cannot identify you personally, and there is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing being set on your device.

The only cookie this site may set is a single first-party cookie remembering whether you’ve dismissed our contact banner. That’s it.

Section 06

Your rights.

Under Canada’s PIPEDA, British Columbia’s PIPA, and comparable laws abroad, you have meaningful rights over the data we hold about you. We honour all of them, regardless of where you live:

i.

Access

Ask us for a copy of every record we hold on you. We’ll send it within 30 days.

ii.

Correction

Tell us something is wrong and we’ll fix it. Simple as that.

iii.

Deletion

Ask us to erase your data. We will, unless we’re legally required to keep it.

iv.

Portability

Get your data in a clean, machine-readable format — yours to take anywhere.

v.

Objection

Tell us to stop a specific use of your data. Default answer: we stop.

vi.

Complaint

Unhappy? Escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@ignitewebstudios.ca. A human answers — usually the same person who built your site.

Section 07

How long we keep it.

We hold on to your information for only as long as there’s a reason to. After that, we delete it. The reasons and timelines are:

  • Active project files & credentials — until project launch, then archived for 90 days and deleted.
  • Enquiries that didn’t become projects — purged from our inbox after 12 months.
  • Invoices and tax records — kept 7 years, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Analytics data — aggregate only, retained for 24 months for year-over-year trend reporting.
Section 08

How we protect it.

We take reasonable precautions to keep your information safe. Client files live in access-controlled cloud storage with two-factor authentication enabled on every account that touches them. Our laptops are full-disk encrypted. Passwords are generated and stored in a team vault, not in spreadsheets.

No security is absolute. If a breach ever affects your data, we’ll notify you and the Privacy Commissioner without undue delay — in plain language, explaining what happened, what we’re doing about it, and what you should do.

Section 09

Children & age.

Our services are for businesses and adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you’re a parent or guardian and you believe your child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Section 10

Changes to this policy.

We update this page when our practices change — a new service provider, a new law, a clarified wording. The version number and “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflect the current state.

For changes that materially affect your rights, we will email current clients and post a note on our homepage for at least 30 days before the change takes effect.

Section 11

Say hello.

Questions about this policy, a specific data request, or just curious how the sausage is made? We’re friendly, we’re local, and we answer every email.

Privacy Questions

Write us a note. A human will reply.

We usually respond within one business day. For formal data requests, include the email address you used when you contacted us so we can find your records quickly.
